Shotoku Koh

A singer-songwriter. Mainly uses a gut guitar around which his compositions and performances are centered. His songs express his unique view on the world of music with a mix of post-rock, electronica, alternative, and hip-hop elements. His lyrics are written in his cultural language, Korean, his mother tongue, Japanese, and English, depending on the song. His history includes playing the guitar for Temple ATS’s track maker, Onimas, and a band unit with DJ Shun, Pop torture, in the 2000s. In 2017, he broke his decade-long silence to release the concept album “SONGS OF REMEDY” under the name of cole through SUKO RECORDS. The representative song, “Haruka Kanata” (“Faraway”), was remixed by SATOL a.k.a Beat Live, and he also received support from many other track makers and made joint creations with HIMURO YOSHITERU and ZAION. From 2018, he started releasing music that bears his uniqueness in all its glory as Shotoku Koh. The 12-inch single that he sang in Korean, “sae,” is his first release. The B-side of the same release is a track remixed by beat maker HIMURO YOSHITERU, “DREAM.”

シンガーソングライター。ガットギターを作曲や演奏の軸として主に使用。楽曲にポストロック、エレクトロニカ、オルタナ、ヒップホップの要素を絡めた独自の音楽世界観を表現。自身のルーツである韓国語、母国語である日本語、楽曲によっては英語でリリックを展開。2000年代にはTemple ATSのトラックメーカーOnimasやDJ ShunとのバンドユニットPop tortureでギターを担当した経歴を持つ。10年程の長い沈黙を破り、2017年にはcole名義でコンセプトアルバム“SONGS OF REMEDY”をSUKO RECORDSよりリリース。代表曲の『遥か彼方』をSATOL a.k.a Beat LiveがREMIXを手がけるなどトラックメーカーからの支持を多く集め、HIMURO YOSHITERUやZAIONとの共作も行う。2018年からはShotoku Kohとして独自性を前面に打ち出した音楽を展開。
